The Library Foundation supports the work of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County through private philanthropy and endowment management. Contributions to The Library Foundation helps strengthen collections, expand programs, and enhance services. The board of The Library Foundation is appointed by the Trustees of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County upon recommendation by The Library Foundation board. Appointment occurs in December each year for a two-year term beginning the following January. The board meets quarterly and has a committee structure to support its work and organizational functions. Board Requirements Board members are required to participate in meetings, join a committee and donate annually to The Library Foundation. On average board members have 6 formal meetings each year (4 board meetings and two committee meetings). There are many other opportunities to participate in Library Foundation functions throughout the year. Onboarding Prior to appointment recommendation, members of The Library Foundation's Nominating Committee will meet with candidates to ensure an understanding of the board, organization, expectations and its relationship with the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Following appointment to the board, an onboarding meeting is held with all new appointees.
