Your training with National Underground Railroad Freedom Center staff and adult docents will prepare them to serve as volunteers throughout the museum’s permanent exhibits and in the community.

Work with Taking Root staff to help plant trees at Taking Root planting events. Need for help will vary depending on current projects.

Is your church group, youth group, workplace, Boy or Girl Scout Troup, club, organization, group of friends, etc. looking for a service outlet? You’ve come to the right place! Contact us and we will match your group with the appropriate way to help!

Our volunteers serve in many capacities, including registration, office work, construction and tradesmen work, housekeeping, prayer team, or special guest presenters. If you don’t see your area of skill or interest listed here, we still need your service!

Consider cooking a meal or baking a dessert that can be taken in our bus to serve 40-50 people in a weekend.

There are additional ways of helping at our facility such as sorting donations, assembling snack packs, and toiletry bags.

Ride on the bus directly feeding and clothing those we serve. The bus can accommodate 4 to 5 people per service trip.

We always have a need for handcrafted items for our gift shop which is a fundraiser for the clinic. Preference is for items than can be priced at $5 or less. Can be for both pets and people.

Volunteering can be as varied as the parks themselves: support conservation efforts, trails, fishing, history, music, birds and wildlife, gardening, photography and natural landscapes. Help at an event or program, in the field, the office, the lodge or the welcome center!

Volunteers will be needed to prepare harvested produce for sale.
